Migrating from partner self hosted installation to our own hosted by 3CX

We are wanting to know what the steps are to migrate from a partner self-hosted installation to our own hosted by 3CX installation. I can't seem to find a clear guide on how this would be done.

The partner managed installation is V20.

Do we ask the the partner to release the FQDN, and then install a new instance in our own portal from a backup file? What about the key, can we replace this?

What if we have a system with a different key that isn't being used, but has an active subscription? Can we restore the backup into this one?

The process to move from a self-hosted to 3CX hosted is simple and explained to our guide here:

You do not have to change the FQDN if it is a 3CX FQDN. Make sure you have added the 3CX hosted service in the license key
Take a backup from the existing PBX, and from your customer account, go to the systems and deploy the machine.

Make sure that your partner powers off the on-premises installation.

We purchased a different license with 3CX hosting thinking that we could change the key. Is there any way to do this?

After the partner powers down their installation, do they need to disconnect the FQDN? Or can we just deploy it in our portal?

Please note that replacing commercial keys is not possible.

Since you have purchased a new license key, you can use a new FQDN.
If you want to use the old FQDN, it needs to be disconnected from the old license key.
This can be done from the portal. Once it is disconnected, you can proceed with the new installation.

If we use our key with a new FQDN, how can we restore the backup from the existing installation? We've tried setting in Advanced Parameters the backup license and backup FQDN to 0, but the backup still includes this info.

If we want to use the same FQDN, the option to disconnect the FQDN is not present in the partner's portal.

By far the easiest way is to add hosting to the existing license, then restore a backup during installation. The key and FQDN are in the backup.

There are forum posts discussing editing the backup file, but I’m on my phone and don’t have links handy.

Its best to migrate your current license and then get a refund for the newly purchased one. That requires access to the admin console, the customer portal account and the key of course. Also be aware you need an admin with networking knowledge. You could also switch to any of the partners that frequent this forum even though they are not located in same country they will be able to help you remotely.
