Migrating from Windows to Debian

I want to migrate our 3CX 16.0.611 onto a Linux VM. After restoring the backup to the debian machine will the IP phones need to be reprovisioned?

if the 3cx hosted or local.

Local - Not if the Debian server has the same Ip address, and if you are using spilt dns you have updated the internal fqdn

Hosted - using sbc - just make sure sbc is up and running. Stun config should be ok, as you use fqdn to connect back to the server

Just remember , you need to switch off the old windows server before you install Debian 3cx

Thanks for the reply.

We'll need the Windows server to continue running after the migration for the accounting databases. The goal is to get 3CX running on a standalone system, and not tie up a Windows license. That said, the Debian 3CX server will have a different internal IP address.

Option 66 will be your friend, as once you move it you will need to reprovision phones that are local, remote phones that are using direct stun could still work as long as you update the port forwards to the new ip.

You can not have two systems running at the same time - you will have issues with license , fqdn to name a few

3cx has a call home feature, so you can not block internet access on the windows version without affecting the license key, version of 3cx
