I would like to migrate one of our clients from on-premise hosted to cloud hosted at Digital Oceans. We have several customers hosted at Do and have been please with the results.

My question is this.
The customer currently uses Broadvoice for the SIP trunk provider. I know that 3CX no longer supports Broadvoice as a SIP provider if hosted at 3CX. Does this same limitation also include hosting at DO?

In the past, to do a migration, all I had to do is backup and restore and everything went good. But just want to make sure the Broadvoice would still function if hosted at Digital Oceans.

Thanks for any reply's

If you "self-host" in DO, you are not subject to Hosted restrictions. Those only apply if 3CX hosts the system.

So just the normal backup and restore to the new hosting location should be fine?

Yes, if your backup is bigger than 1GB it won't work on the deployment wizard in the Portal so make sure to archive recordings beforehand.

Any sip standards compliant provider should work with any non-startup 3CX instance. 3CX doesn't support un-supported providers on any 3CX instance, but that's not to say it won't work.

We are migrating our customers from Broadvoice to Telnex, but have a couple that are locked into multi year contracts and will not be able to migrate them till later. But want to go ahead and move to Cloud Hosted at DO in the interim.

Best thing to do is get just spin up a test instance and then you'll have first hand knowledge as to whether it works or not.
