Missing SMS messages

Hi All,

We had setup Flowroute as our messaging provider for SMS, the connection is up and running and when tested is returns a success status. For the most part messages are flowing no problems, however some messages are being missed and not delivered to the end user.

We only have one number configured on this box and it delivers messages to one extension at the moment. Is there a way to see the SMS logs and see what messages are being received by 3CX?

Hi, please check out alpha 2. We have greatly simplified and improved SMS reliability. You need to configure it only once now at sip trunk level using the webhook. The old messaging proxy is bypassed.

Please note SMS messaging issues might also be coming from the provider so check with them as well.

Thank you for your reply. We found out that these messages are missed due to configurations on the Firewall, we only allow traffic from WAN to internal systems from pre-defined IPs (hosts) for obvious reasons. Initially we can to monitor network traffic and figure out the IP address of the messaging gateways 3CX is using and had them added to our whitelist. But it seems 3CX are using multiple hosts for SMS messaging which aren't whitelisted on the Firewall.

We opened a case (#876713) with support and they told us they don't have a pre-defined list of IPs (hosts) for SMS messaging, I think this is a very risky practice and 3CX should have a list of hosts which we can configure on our firewalls to only allow traffic from.

Alpha 2 the messages will come from your trunk directly so there is no need for these firewall rules. Please see blog post.

Perfect, currently we are on v 18.0 update3 (build 461) is the Alpha update bound this point?

Looks like the Alpha release is only available on Debian, this instance is running on windows.

Ok, for Windows its going to be a bit of a wait i am afraid, at least another month. We will release Debian first.

Hi Nick,

We are now on version 18.0 Update5 (build 415) and SMS is now configured via the SIP trunk directly but still seeing this issue. If the firewall rule is disabled users aren't receiving SMS messages.

Thought this issue is going to be resolved in update 5, am I correct?
