modem help for voip phone plz

To get a modem to work is quite iffy with VoIP, even with an ATA it is dependent on all devices and providers supporting T.38. Your best bet is spend the $12 a month a actual PSTN line for any security system or extras.

Really need a bit more info on what type of modem "we" are talking about and the specific issue.
