Hi
Google cloud openend a new region in our country and now
we have to move our 3cx vm within the google cloud to the newly opened region, which is the closest to us.

Moving to another region within the google cloud implies that the NIC IP and the static public IP changes.
I tried with cloning the production VM then booting it in the new region with a new static public IP. I can ping the VM over the new public IP but I can not connect to it over https (3cx webmanagement)
Also under
/etc/network/interfaces there is no interface config.

Does anybody have any input how to smootly move 3cx to another Google Cloud region?

Stefan

Never done this but perhaps in 3CX MC you need to change IP to dynamic before moving so 3CX can handle a new IP when on new VM ?

Yes, I will try the following.
  • Taking a snapshot of the existing VM
  • Change IP to dynamic in the existing VM.
  • Shutdown the existing VM
  • Cloning the existing VM and bring the new VM up in the new region
  • Starting the new VM in the new region and see what happens

Any better ideas welcome.

your process seems good

I think your plan is very close to what you can do without using a backup. If it a different zone then the IP cannot be oved and you need a new one and mapp it to the instance.
