Moving from 4 digit to 3digit extensions

We have an on-premise PBX being hosted on our Winows Server and our client has requested to have the extensions reduced from a 4 to 3 digit extension.

If I download a backup csv of the 4 digit extensions, change them to 3-digit ones in excel, and then upload them back after reinstalling 3CX to use 3-digit, will the phones that were provisioned with those previous extensions be provisioned with the 3 digit ones?

Only the extensions would have been changed. Nothing from the other columns in the CSV

Unlikely it would work because the phone is looking for the provisioning URL, which has a random string, that will be changed on a new install. However, you can do this easily if you have access to the DHCP server and can set Option 66 to the new provisioning URL.

Don't forget to re-create all your ring groups, inbound rules, etc as well.

That will not work, on a new install the provisioning link will change, there for the phones will not find the config.
