I have a small customer that is wanting to import their company contacts, and I have just set them up on a Multitenant Instance. However, I don't see an option to import just for their company. It appears that there are either two options:
  1. Import the contacts to the company phone book which then all clients under the Multitenant (Including other customers) would be able to see all those contacts
  2. Individually import contacts as the user into their "Personal Contacts" (Which would then require management of each contact under every extension in that customer)
Both don't seem super great and kind of kill my ability for multi-Tenant. (I can get past the O365/Google SSO not working and the No CRM per Tenant) but the contacts area very basic and crucial item that I can't get past.

I'm hoping I have just missed the obvious and you could point me in the right direction? or maybe this was something overlooked and easy to add in a future update (for Multitenant add the option for Segregated company or "Department" contact lists)

This is something that is in the pipeline and will be coming soon.

We do not have an ETA for this just yet.

I have this issue as well but am currently still on v18 as v20 breaks several functionalities I need and/or makes managing/implementing them ridiculously difficult.

The contacts were always at a global level. Version 20 will be introducing the departmental phonebook to make sense for deploying to multi-tenant customer.

Also, reporing is being addressed, and there have been a lot of improvements made in Version 20 to make it better than version 18.

@NicholasP_3CX Thats great to hear, we have really liked the Direction of the V20 and like the Multitenant as it can help with several of our smaller clients that we want to help but can't get them on a dedicated instance of their own.

The only other Item I've had with the MultiTenant would be making so that as the system owner if you go to add a user and then select a department have it make sure you are only able to set an extension within that Tenant/Department defined range (Right now you could accidentally assign an extension to a user but use one from an incorrect range.)

Look into using the 3CX Configuration API. You can automate the creation of the departments and the users.

Any updates on this with Update 6 Final out now? We now have EOL on 4ch Enterprise, and Pro is coming soon I'm sure, we'd like to move some of these 2-6 extension Mom and Pop shops to multi-tenant but some of them have pages of shared company contacts in their systems.

I believe 3CX has the position that if you need some of the features like segregated music on hold, company directory, etc., you should install a stand-alone version of 3CX. According to Nick Galea the multi-tenant version is intended for those customers that have very basic needs. This is only my opinion, but I am left with the impression that some features like unique MOH may never be implemented in multi-tenant.

I was going to suggest that you could easily run 3CX on a tiny Linux server on LightSail for about $10. We have been doing it for years successfully. But looking at the latest 3CX official hardware recommendations, they are now suggesting a minimum of 4GB of RAM. That pushes the cost up to $24 a month and makes the cost of putting these tiny customers on their own server a little harder.

Hello Folks is this sorted out
