Hi everyone,

I'm currently implementing an on-prem 3CX server for my organization. I have most of the functionality working, however I'd like to have multiple DIDs run through a single trunk if possible.

My upstream provider is Telnyx. Their server uses the phone numbers I have purchased as the username to authenticate for outbound calls (e.g. [email protected])

My issue is regarding the correct method to make my SIP trunk transparently pass the extension's phone number as the user. As per a separate a forum post, I set the "From: User Part" to "OutboundCallerID" on my trunk. To my understanding, this should cause the system to pull the outbound caller ID (in this case the phone number) set in the individual extension as the user to authenticate against the Telnyx PoP.

However, this is not what occurs. Rather, my 3CX install always passes my test number as the user and ignores the outbound called ID I have set for the extension. The only way I am able to make the system use the second number is when I set the trunk's "From: User Part" field to a custom value containing the number.

Using the Telynx 3CX Support Template you will see this is already set

Set the outbound caller ID under each extension setting and this will pass through out of 3CX.

You can confirm this by running a wireshark trace from the PBX.

If I well understood your goal, first check in your trunk settings if you set something in trunk caller ID field (if so remove it)
If you have DID's and want to send this to callee then you need in each concerned extension to set caller id
Of course DIDs needs to be subcribed from the trunk provider to be usable.
I don't know Telnyx but probably in their portal you may have perhaps also a default ID setting, so check here also.

Hello @pdreyer

Just use the included template for Telnyx and try it without changing anything in the trunk settings. Let us know if that works for you.

This did the trick. I guess at some point I changed something and forgot about it. Thanks for your time.
