After 3 hours searching through video tutorials listening to a guy who cannot speak English correctly, trolling the internet and searching this forum site I am unable to locate any reference to the "Music on Hold" feature stated in the 3CX brochure. Does anybody know where to .locate instructions for adding a PCM file to the 3Cx software program? Has anybody located the specifications outlining message length? Regards, Wayne. Telehold Australia. :)

Hello Telehold

The music on hold feature is under 'settings' -> 'general'

the section is called 'music on hold'. in here you can browse to your PCM wav files.

Alternatively you could use the '3cx music on hold audio service' below to add a folder and then just drop your files into this. Click configure.

you can then enter names of the tracks and click 'browse' to locate the file you require.

Hope that helps.

Thankyoufor your generous help Mordzy,
We are trying to load and save a three minute "Music on Hold" vocal file into via a handset but there seems to be a file size problem. It appears there is a 2:30 time maximum which does not appear correct for an on hold message. Most On Hold productions average around 6 minutes. We can locate no data anywhere in a 3CX specifications area that shows all the file sizes in the system that are currently available. The user manual and video tutorials are virtually hopeless and border on the amatuer. With 40 years in the written and verbal communications industry around Australia these teaching aids were obviously written by somebody who knows very little about communicating information effectively to other humans. Regards, Wayne. (Multimedia communications professional.)

Format of the file?

The MoH which comes packaged with the system is the onhold.wav audio file. If you look at the file, you will find it is 4:48 in length.. so the only real limitation comes from recording the music over a handset.. which is likely driven from the same IVR which handles voicemail recording.. putting it as more of a convenience item rather than a production item.

When selecting an MoH audio file to use, you will see the context help "?" button gives you an idea of how the audio should be encoded/formatted and where to store the file.

While English may not be his first language, I'm sure his Maltese is perfect.
