Hey all

Some Extension names show up when searching or calling the extension. All of the names show up properly on the User View option of the 3cx App. But the name doesn't show up when entering the extension in the search field.

Also, Some Extensions have their name presented when dialing the extensions, but some do not.

As you can see in the attachments. Extension 112 shows up under the user view, but not on the 3cx app. But extension 131 shows up on both.

Is it something silly I'm missing?

Has extension 131, and a name, been saved elsewhere in a directory on the device, but 112 has not?

Hi @Guzz,

Can you check under the 112 extension and see if under Options tab >> Options section >> Hide this extension from 3CX company phonebook and 3CX Apps is enabled? If it is, uncheck the box then restart the Windows Client.

I knew it was something silly... So, that worked for the Windows Client. But did not for the desk phone.

Will I need to reboot the 3cx server? or ...?

Hi @Guzz,

When the phone is reprovisioned, it should update. You can manually update the phone from the Management Console >> Phones >> <Your Phone> >> Reprovision.

It's also good to note that some phones, such as Yealink allow you to update the phonebook from the phone itself.

I rebooted the 3cx server last night. Names are now populating. Thanks everyone for your insights...

OK. Here's what we are seeing.

Changed to have the extension visible on company phonebook.
The reboot of our server last night, updated all the extension names and updated on all of our phones. Woot Woot.

When we change the First/Last name of an extension it does not update on our desk phones. It does update on the 3cx app, immediately.

A reboot of the phone then updates and the updated name on the extension shows up when dialing it from a desk phone.

- Is there a default update cycle that the names of extensions are pushed to the phones? Hourly? Daily? Nightly?

Hi @Guzz,

Glad to hear it's all been sorted out!

As for reprovisioning, it usually happens once every 24hrs (1440 minutes) as set in the template. We don't recommend you change this, as manually reprovisioning is effortless from the management console.
