Hi, we are based in India and have purchased a SIP trunk connection from a local telecom company.
They have given us the following details about the connection: (all figures modified to protect privacy)
-------------
CPE IP - 10.12.234.15 SUBNET- 255.255.255.001
GATEWAY- 10.12.234.16
SUBSCRIBER ID- 2236263300
DID range RANGE --- 2236263300 to 2236263399

SIP- CONFIGURATION....

User name-- -------------+912236263300
Password-----------------75270
Domain Name------------delhi.relianceims.in
Authorization Name---- ++912236263300@delhi.relianceims.in
Proxy server IP----------10.237.292.39
--------------

I am trying to configure 3cx using the above info in many ways but until now no success.
Under Generic SIP trunk, i have added following details:
-------
Registrar/Server/Gateway Hostname or IP: delhi.relianceims.in
Outbound Proxy: 10.237.292.39
Authentication --
Type of Authentication: Register/Account Based
Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID): +912236263300
Authentication password: 75270
-------
I tried changing authentication ID to : [email protected] but it doesn't work either.
It is showing as Register failed.

Requesting someone's help in setting up the SIP trunk. What am i missing?

BTW: I have tested the above settings using X-lite softphone and i am able to dial and receive calls.

Have you contacted them about what it is that they don't like in the registration attempt?

What is the Activity Log you get, when it fails?

I'm going to assume that the ++ in the Authorization Name is a typo in your post, and not a cut and paste from the actual settings.

following are the error codes in event log:

SIP Server/Call Manager ID: 12294
Call or Registration to Reliance SIP has failed. sip:[email protected]:5060replied: 403 Forbidden; from IP:10.237.292.39:5060

SIP Server/Call Manager ID: 12293
Registration at Reliance SIP has failed. Destination (sip:[email protected]:5060) is not reachable, DNS error resolving FQDN, or service is not available.

I have contacted them about possible port issue, am yet to hear from them. But i checked default port number in x-lite softphone, and it is the same - 5060. I tried removing x-lite and registering, but same result.

Yes, the ++ was a typo.

Hello @harshit

From the provided error i can see that you are getting a 403 Forbidden from your provider. That means that either the credentials are wrong / send in the wrong format or that your provider needs to whitelist your IP so you are able to connect. They should be able to tell you what you need to change so they can accept the registration.

hello YiannisH,

As mentioned in my previous message, please check the other thread. I have the same issue.

I also went through some other issues in forums, like this one https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/sip-register-bug-unsupported-provider.15952/

It seems the issue was resolved after version 10. However, it is not clearly mentioned anywhere.
It seems to be related to 3 way authentication.

The SIP provider requires Authorization Digest Username in the format of [email protected] but the passed username is only +91$$$$$$$$.

I am still not sure how others have resolved this. I have messaged the other user and waiting for their response.

Meanwhile, if you can put some light on how 3 way authentication works and what is it used for, that could be helpful.

Regards

Your issue might be similar to the one of the other thread but the solution is not guaranteed to be the same as each provider is different and what applies to one provider may not apply to another.
3 way authentication is used when the provider requires extra authentication other than the Auth. ID and password. The PBX will send the Register message to the provider and the provider will respond with a proxy authentication message. The PBX will populate the Register message with the 3 way authentication credentials. If you know what your provider wants to see in each field then you will be able to set it up correctly.

If the provider has requested this then add "[email protected]" in the 3 Way Authentication Field

Hi YiannisH, this worked after a few minutes. Initially it was blocking due to multiple failed attempts at the registrar. Many Thanks for the help. Much appreciate the same.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved and thank you for updating the thread with your solution.
