We have a client who uses an analogue PA. They have switched to a cloud based 3CX server and I have a GrandStream HT812 set up as the middleman between the PA and the 3CX cloud server. I was able provision the HT812 as a phone and a extension. I am able to make the announcement via call to the paging extension but having trouble with busy dial-tone through speakers when hanging up after announcement. How can I get it to where the person can page and then hang up and not have the busy tone.

  • I have tried this with a paging group set up or intercom style (*9 and virtual paging group) which had same result with dial tone.
  • Used this guide to STUN provision the HT812:

- Unfortunately we can't replace the speakers and a Snom PA1 may not be an option unless someone can explain how it could help. My setup has a Tip/Ring going from old PBX to a PA system. I could not decipher the wiring in the PA system so I am going to leave replacing the PA system as last resort, and I assume that is what the Snom PA1 does.
- I can use the Snom PA1 if I can keep the old PA system and if it can hang the calls up after the Page is done and not have a busy tone. But to my understanding the Snom PA1 is a complete over haul for an analogue PA system.

Solutions anyone? Without new hardware (minus Snom PA1 if someone can explain if it can be used without replacion old PA)

I assume that what is happening, is that the ATA is still being seized by the paging system for a few seconds (minutes?) after 3CX drops that call. Because the system remains off-hook, the ATA presents a tone to "remind you" to hang up. What you might look at doing, (and I'm not familiar with the options available on the HT812), is to change either the timing as to when the tone is presented, or, perhaps, change to tone to something very low level, or silence, if available.
