New Installation Suggestions for SBC setup?

I currently have deployed many 3cx systems and everything is working great. We setup a 3cx system in a datacenter and use "Router Phones" at the office locations.

We are deploying a new 3cx system to a datacenter to host the 3cx phone system, but they will have 300+ phones at one location.
This seems like a great place to do the (2) I7 computers running linux with 3cx SBC Cluster for Active/Standy.

But it says this only handles approx 100 phones - so do I setup 3 sets of these then?

Can you use multiple sets like this - and if do you have to manually configure which phones use which set??

Powerful enough machines can handle more then 100 as an SBC. Follow the hardware spec for the 3CX PBX as a guide - a PBX that can do 300 phones can also do SBC for 300 phones.

But you can deploy multiple clusters or even single machines and tie specific phones to that specific SBC if you want.

Yes, the supported is 100 behind each SBC ash described here, so you can install 3 dedicated sbc running on linux or windows on the network and provisioning 100 ip phones behind each one.

When provisioning the phones you can select which SBC to use, so every phone will point to the relevant sbc.

Ok thank you for the information. So what happens when one of these goes offline? Is it a manual process to switch the phones over to another SBC one by one?

If one of the sbc goes offline, then you can configure a HA Cluster, check more info here

The number of supported subscribers is given as 100, but this scenario is valid according to the specified hardware features and recommended features, if you increase the capacity of the requested hardware features, the number of subscribers you will use will also increase. Even with the recommended hardware for SBC installed on Linux, you can easily manage around 150 subscribers.

We're running an EdgeMarc 2900a and it's extremely robust. It provides insight into all the calls, your connection, etc. I would say it's an industrial grade SBC rated for 300 calls: link and PDF below:

Ok So I now have brand new Dell I7 Mini towers I plan to deploy in HA - they have Intel i1219-LM network drivers - when I try install the 3cx Debain ISO - no network card found. I tried to put drivers from intel on another USB stick - nothing works. Any suggestions?

I had the exact same issue and I was not able to fix. I ended up putting USB 3.0 to ether-net (from amazon) - those worked perfectly. Possible when v20 comes out for Debian 12 this will work. The supported hardware so out dated in my opinion. I had to edit the interfaces file to change the name to lan0 like this as ha cluster requires the ether-net name to match. Also note you MUST use DHCP reservation or clustering will not work I lost 5 hours figured out the hard way. - not sure why this is not in the setup doc.

1. Navigate to the folder: /etc/network
2. Edit the file interfaces - ex nano interfaces
3. Comment out "allow-hotplug [interface]" and "iface [interface] inet dhcp"
4. Add the following at the bottom of the file:
5. Rename [interface]=lan0
6. Auto lan0
7. Iface lan0 inet dhcp
   1. Must use DHCP as there is a bug w/ static where two systems won't always be able to sync
8. This will rename the interface to "lan0", so if another name is needed/wanted, can replace lan0 with that
