I just purchased a Linksys SPA942 and I cannot make outbound calls with it. I am able to receive calls on it but when I dial 9 to get out It calls straight to a callcentric (my voip provider) with a error message saying the number I am dialing is not in service. It only allows me to dial 9 and not the whole number. When I use a soft phone I am able to dial out fine without any problems. I followed the steps for a linksys phone setup with the setup guide and I cant find any forum threads with this exact problem. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks.

Error code from server status:

Can you dial another extension (the softphone) on the PBX? If you can, i would suspect the dialplan on the set, especially if it has been left as the default, have a look at that first. There are a number of sites, if you do a web search , that have information on how to craft a dialplan on a Linksys/Cisco device.

You need to include more of the 3CX log showing the start of the incoming call from the set to the point that it is sent out on the trunk, showing the dialled digits.

There could be a problem with the outgoing dialplan in 3Cx, but if the softphone is working then that is probably not the case.

I can't dial other devices either on the pbx, I will check the dial plan on the set.

I have fixed the problem. The dial plan 3cx tells you to use is [x*]. I had [x*] without the period. It all works now. Thanks.

It is the real pleasure to know that everything is working fine :)

Thanks for your update

When you have the time , i would go back and tweak the sets dialplan to suit the numbers you normally dial. It can "fix" that pause after dialling before the set sends the digits to 3CX. It means not having to dial # to speed the call on.
