Hello everybody,

is there any information available on if and when the announced new REST API for V18 will be done? There was some talk about it in the announcements about V18, but then it was postponed in favour of Teams integration (which I can understand, even if I don't need it). But as of now, I don't find any more talk on this?

Am I the only one desperately waiting for this API?

Regards,
Christoph

Believe me, many of us are waiting on it.

However, it's coming. We don't know when but it is. It's not an easy task to create a brand new API.

My recommendation is to wait and see what 3CX releases, but if you need a REST API today, we have a very expansive REST API (we use the same API to implement all our tools).

3CX has provided no details regarding what will be possible with their new API and Gateway service, but I am hopeful they will open up significant portions of the PBX with a fully supported API. We will just have to wait and see.

I am aware of your offering, but it is simply over my budget to spend more than the 3CX on top for the REST API.

Waiting just isn't my strong side...

I'm curious, what do you currently need for API? Some parts may be coming sooner than we thought...

Most urgently, I need the complete information about all the calls that are currently active.

I have a combined retail and wholesale business with employees constantly switching between retail (mostly people in the store) and wholesale (orders via phone). When they take a call from the wholesale queue, they go to next available PC (no fixed workspaces) and start to work on that call/order. With an API giving me the full overview of calls, I could create an interface within my ERP system where the user can just click on his extention and the system gets the caller, opens customer information, open tickets, etc.

The current CRM integration misses the number called for the lookup and provides the other details only after the call is finished.

To complete this scenario, the API should be able to set the status for the abandoned calls list, as we would like to manage that in ERP as well.

Morning all,

Are there any further updates on the availability of this new API? We have a lead for a 44 user enterprise system, which needs to be installed and functioning by 24th November, but with a need to integrate their existing CRM system.

They need the following functionality:
  • Ability to initiate a call from the CRM software. We have tested successfully via TAPI but this will obviously only work when the Windows client is installed. They need the functionality to be able to initiate call from CRM and for it ring any device logged in on that extension e.g. mobile app
  • The ability for CRM to "popup" the contact when an incoming call comes in, so that they can add notes during the call, rather than creating a ticket in CRM when the call ends
  • Log all incoming and outgoing calls against the number
  • Daily/hourly contact sync between CRM and 3CX
Without this functionality, the lead is ultimately going to go to another provider so any information of what will be available and when is gladly received.

If this is a web based CRM, you can use the browser extensions to enable click to call from it:
https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/chrome-edge-extensions-beta/

Starting the call from a mobile device will not be possible, only with the Web Client / Desktop app from the computer in which you're using click to call.

The ability for CRM to "popup" the contact when an incoming call comes in, so that they can add notes during the call, rather than creating a ticket in CRM when the call ends
This is something you can achieve by creating a CRM template for this system:
https://www.3cx.com/docs/crm-integration/

Log all incoming and outgoing calls against the number
Using the CRM template you can log calls from and to extensions. For example, if an inbound call goes to an IVR and the caller hangs up, it will not be logged. Calls are only logged when an extension is involved. Also, there are some restrictions when calls go through a queue, for example missed calls through a queue are not being reported at the time being.

Daily/hourly contact sync between CRM and 3CX
This is not possible at the moment.
