I have been using my personal Nokia 5.1, Android 10 October Security Update, without any major issues since starting to trial 3CX last year and going live in July this year.
As the ICT Manager for my company, I am responsible for the purchase of mobile phones, and three years ago Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) were purchased, however, these have the issue of not being able to answer an incoming 3CX call when the screen is locked. So we are looking to upgrade and I have just purchased a Nokia 5.3 to test, which also runs Android 10 October Security Update, but there is one major issue. The audio from the Nokia 5.3 is silent for the first 5 to 20 seconds of the call, i.e. no audio is heard at the other end. There is no delay using the Nokia 5.1 at all.
I am testing both the Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 5.3 with the latest 3CX Android app and configured as the same extension number. I am then calling, or calling from, an extension which terminates on a Yealink T46S connected to our corporate network which connects to a SBC internally which connects to our PBX in the cloud (on Amazon Lightsail). I have tested both Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 5.3 phones connected using mobile data only or on Wi-Fi (using an Access Point connected to the same physical network as the Yealink T46S). The audio delay issue on the Nokia 5.3 is the same in all scenarios, with no audio issue experienced in the same scenarios on the Nokia 5.1.
Has anyone else experienced the same or something similar? Am I missing something somewhere on the configuration of the Nokia 5.3 or PBX? Should I be considering a different Nokia phone or maybe even a Samsung phone as a better option?
Thanks in advance.
John

Hi @JTW,

Since we don't have access to this specific device to reproduce the issue you are describing, please provide us with more info on your setup, including version for the 3CX app, PBX and PBX server OS.

Also, have you tried joining the 3CX Beta Program to test the 3CX beta app on the device that you are experiencing the issue on? If not, you can subscribe by opening this link on your device:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tcx.sipphone14

Version of the 3CX app on both Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 5.3 is 16.5.2.55
PBX version 16.0.6.655
PBX server OS is whatever is used by the 3CX deployment wizard to Amazon Lightsail
I'm not a linux person, so I would need guidance on how to extract the version number of the OS from the 3CX console

I have subscribed to the Beta program on the Nokia 5.3 and will try out the 3CX beta app and report back here with the results.

Thanks.

From the instance manager:
OS is Debian GNU/Linux 9.5 (stretch),4.9.0-8-amd64

Hi @JTW,

a. Go into the app's 'Settings', then 'Advanced' and enable the 'Verbose Logging' option.
b. When the issue occurs, use the 'Send Log Report', i.e. the last option in 'Settings'> 'Advanced'. Include your contact details and PM me to trace the issue back to you.
c. After you select the 'Send Log Report' option, you can disable the 'Verbose Logging' option.

Hi

Having been busy on other tasks Friday, I've come back to the phone issue today. The version of the 3CX Android app does not seem to have changed, even though the phone is configured for Beta releases.

I have performed some test calls and it has only had an issue with the audio on a couple of occasions, and not there all the time like it was before. I will try to see if I am able to capture a trace with the audio delay and PM you.

Thanks
John

Good. Thanks for your feedback.

Hi

It's now failing most of the time!!! I have emailed you a couple of captured traces, one with the other end hearing lots of buzzing noises for the first 18 seconds of the call, and the second with silence at the other end for the first 10 seconds of the call.

Hope this is what you are looking for and assists with diagnosing the issue.

Thanks
John

Id suggest using a more mainstream android device to be honest. For example a Google Pixel 3a else a good samsung
