I know this has been a major issue and I've read a number of forum posts & threads regarding this issue & the multiple steps taken through beta versions over the past 1.5 years. I've installed the newest beta this morning but still have the issue that my mobile phone won't ring after going idle even with the app still open in the background. If the app is active on screen it always rings but once its off screen but active in background it won't ring after approx 5+ minutes of idle. This has been going on since I started using 3cx on my android last year. The issue is consistent before and after update to beta versions. I've enabled verbose logging so I can send the report in but not sure what to reference in the email so it makes it to the appropriate party.

I've disabled battery optimization under the 3cx app details but it may be relevant that when I switch from the home screen back to the background 3cx app the screen displays waiting for network for a split second before registering & displaying available. That may be a clue into the problem but I've tried w/e I can think of.

Here's my android device details:

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Verizon
Model No: M-N950U
Android Version: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience Version: 9.0
Kernel: 4.4.78
Build: R16NW.N950USQU4CRF3
SE for Android: Enforcing SEPF_SM-N950U_9.0.0_0009

If the App is not open (on the screen)and actually showing as registered, then it is most likely going to be relying on PUSH to wake up. That requires there is an ongoing network connection.

when I switch from the home screen back to the background 3cx app the screen displays waiting for network for a split second before registering & displaying available.

This suggests that there may not be a connection when the PUSH message is sent.

You may want to check the 3CX Activity Log for registration activity, of the extension, and how it corresponds to whether the App is in the background or is on the screen.

You also say you are using the Beta. Did you have the same issue with the previous version installed?

+1

I also have problem with the 3cx app and the note. My guess is, the programm does not aquire the right to draw over other apps (the note8 always on screen).
But 3cx did not confirm my assumption.
The Software still behaves random for me on my note8. I have currently given up to use it for incoming calls.

SP6 contains a new PUSH system that works via your PBX's port 5001/443 (MyPhone). If you're on SP5 or below, i'd suggest you upgrade and try again.

1) MyPhone port open to the outside?

2) Check PBX > Extensions > Phone Provisioning > Enable PUSH for SmartPhones

3) Check PBX > Settings > Phone / Client Options and make sure your firebase credentials are working. To do this you'll need to create a new firebase project and copy your credentials accordingly. I've seen several firebase accounts get blocked by google and people wonder why PUSH doesn't work. I strongly suggest you do this. Here's a guide: https://www.3cx.com/docs/

4) Check if PUSH is working at all:

  1. Register a Windows Client or WebClient on a different extension (test ext) and go to presence.
  2. Open your own 3CX Android Client and make sure you're register. Verify this by also checking on the other client.
  3. Close your 3CX Android Client/Kill it/Lock your device and wait 10 sec. Check on the other client. You MUST see your Android extension as online. If you don't this means you have an issue with step #1, #2, #3.

Check the steps i provided above, one of them may help you with the issue you're facing with PUSH.

I rechecked the current situation on my note8:
push works 100% ok (about 20 tries) unless I close the Samsung branded cover. Maybe the last update really fixed all push problems. Time will tell.

But if the Cover is closed then:
If a mobile network call comes in, the incoming call will be shown on the screen behind the cover. I can even answer the call with the cover closed.
If a 3cx call comes in, the Clock behind the Cover will glow a little more intense, but otherwise no notification - nearly invisible. If I open the cover, then I will see the call and can answer.
If I enable the ring tone, then I would hear the tone regardless of cover closed or open and regardless of 3cx or mobile network call. But normally I have all ring tones disabled.

Try:

Exclude 3CX App from Samsung built in "Battery Optimization"

This is available in Battery Usage under settings, Click on right corner 3 dots
You will find Optimize battery usage , Turn off Battery Optimization for 3CX

I was having the same issue on my hp tablet. I just updated to a new version and every glitch were solved easily. I also had some compatibility issues which also got fixed by the latest update provided by hp customer support

mobilowa: thanks, I tried, but the issue remains. Maybe the next phone I use will behave better.
