Notify doesn't send mail on elastic 2.3 multiple virtual fax

HI all
we have this problem on a client's server, I read a lot about hylafax and how it is implemented but can't find a solution.
there is a file called /var/spool/hylafax/etc/config that says which script to use when notifying of sent faxes.
the point is I found by default elastic points to the standard /bin/notify.php (this doesn't send the mail).
I found there is a notify-elastix.php and pointed to it, but same result.
The fax is actually sent OK and I set a variable on Faispatch notify="always", didn't work neither.
Any help would be appreciated.
The fax viewer doesn't show the event and mail is not sent but fax goes through..
