One of my customers currently uses Asterisk. They operate several different brands, and have different numbers per brand.

Currently, they use 6 line phones with one SIP line per line button - so when they phone rings, they know which company this relates to, and when they want to place a call, they simply touch the line button and then dial the number, which in turn presents the correct CLI.

I am having trouble replicating this functionality in 3CX, and I'm sure there's a workaround someone can suggest.

I am able to set up the BLF buttons to act as line buttons - giving each one a prefix, stripping that prefix in an outbound rule, and sending it to a trunk just for that outbound CLI.

The other way around is a problem - I would like each incoming DDI to ring one hunt group, which is represented by a line light / BLF.

However, I also need to be able to press that line button to make an outbound call with the correct CLI.

With Asterisk this is easy - one SIP line per button.

Any ideas?

If each BLF key were an extension (number), then the outbound Caller ID set against that extension would be sent no matter which trunk the call went out on.

I concur with leejor. This does, however, require that you manually provision multiple accounts on all your phones (if multiple people are making outbound calls in behalf of different brands). You might consider looking at our 3CX Caller ID add-on which enables you to set the desired outbound caller ID prior to placing the call. It's pretty simple to set up -- you create a list of Brands and the associated caller IDs, then your staff simply select the desired brand from the list and make the call as usual. Super easy.

I'm still a little confused about handling incoming calls.

If the user has the 3CX mobile app, they must be logged in to one extension.

So this would work for desk phones, but not for the mobile app. Any ideas?

Hello @PreviouslyAsterisk

With outbound calls things are easy if you have multiple trunks. You can set a prefix up for selecting each trunk and strip it using the outbound rules.

Inbound calls that arrive at ring groups cannot be monitored as BLF keys can only monitor extensions
So i would concur with the leejor and voiptoys that you need to set up multiple accounts on each device (which is not supported by 3CX) that the 3CX client does not support.

You can also create a feature request in our ideas section of the forum where it can be upvoted by other users and evaluated by the appropriate department.

You are trying to emulate a Key System on 3CX, and not the first. If you do some Google searches, you will find others that have tried the same ting, along with some ideas.
