Hi everyone,
I'm working on setting up a VoIP system at home to replace my old PSTN phone. Im very new to VoIP so excuse me for saying anything that doesn't make sense. I placed 3 phones in different rooms (all Yealink T42G models). Two are working as expected and they can call each other's extension. However, the third phone is at a location that only has one LAN outlet. At this location I also have an IPTV receiver that needs a LAN connection, so I have to use a switch of some sort. I don't have any switches left but I do have 2 unused routers so I decided to use one of them as a switch. The routers have no problem forwarding the internet connection to the IPTV receiver but the phone does not work as expected. The routers create a different subnet when using an existing LAN connection so I had to manually provision the phone.
It provisioned as expected and I can see the extension is online. I can use it to call other extensions and other extensions can call the phone in question. However when I pick up a call, the other side can hear the audio coming from the phone behind the router but I can't hear anything on the phone behind the router. I read through some other forum posts about the way audio problem and can see its fairly common. I tried all suggested fixes but the problem still exists.
One router I tried is a TP-LINK AC1350, the other one is a FritzBox 3490.
I tried turning off SIP-ALG on the TP-LINK (can't turn it off on the FritzBox) but that didn't help. I also forwarded every necessary ports on both routers and the main router in my house and the firewall check in 3CX passes without any problems. I've been trying to fix it for 2 days but decided to post a question on the forum cause I couldn't find any other possible fix. I hope someone with a bit more experience here knows what to do!
