OnPrem to Azure, v16 to v18 SBC question

Hi
I have 3cx on premise that is v16
I want to upgrade it to v18 and move it to Azure at the same time if possible
As we have a bunch of IP phones I need to set up an SBC server,
I have not set one up before so I wondered where in the process I should set it up
And would it be better if I used the IP I assign the SBC server the same IP the on premise 3cx server uses?

The IP address of the SBC has to be fixed, does not have to be the same as the 3CX server, as you need to change the phone provisioning details within 3CX from lan to sbc

As you are moving to the cloud, you will need to setup DHCP option 66 so that the phone can reprovision themselves - https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/dhcp-option-66/

If you do not use option 66 , you need to remove the phone configuration from the extension, factory default them and reassign to the extension

Make sure your IP phones support SBC setup

If you make the IP address the same as what the server was, chances are your phones will just work. They won't be in a supported configuration and you won't be able to re-provision them, but otherwise they will likely work. Then you can factory reset them at your own pace and re-provision them via the SBC to get them in a supported configuration.
