Hi, have 5 x V18 Update 9 (Build 31) DIY On-Site systems - my MAIN question is will this version continue 'as is' or does V18 HAVE to migrate to V20?

The main reason I ask the question is that all 5 of my sites use remote extensions and the apps are not a suitable replacement for how those extensions are used/worked and have read that support for these isn't being carried into V20

Thank you

Kevin

You can use remote extensions with V20 no problem at all... They can be IP phones and if you have them configured as STUN they will continue to work (assuming this is what you are referring to). It will continue to work for quite some time unless you use iOS or Android apps with 3CX.

Thank you Nick that was what I was referring to, that's a weight off my mind - don't want to move from my beloved On-Site 3CX's.

Kind regards
Kevin

I have a small 5 user V18 Update 9 (Build 31) DIY On-Site system. Nobody uses the phone apps or the Windows app. So on January 2025 will my desk phones still work, etc. Nobody is really clear on this. Thanks

Yes, they will continue to work, meaning that they wont be blocked from registering to the system and making calls. If these devices are offsite, we recommend switching them to connect through an SBc, or if the phones are compatible as router phones, to convert them to router hpones.

STUN will continue to work but you may need to customise the templates of the phones to keep working at some point when they stop working.

Thank you NicholasP

So, will an existing v18 instance continue to function normally after January 2025?

It will not abruptly stop working, until certificates start expiring, APIs for PUSH etc stop working. Version 20 has been out for almost a year, so ample warning has been given to upgrade.
