We have been using the OpenAI transcription engine successfully since upgrading to v20 months ago. I noticed today that a voicemail I received had no transcription. When I went to the admin console to Integrations > Transcription I saw the engine selected was set to Off and Open AI Whisper is no longer an option. It was working two days ago. I noticed we were still on update 3 so I applied update 4 but no change. Is there something I'm missing?

OpenAI is only available in the Enterprise edition so it's probably why. You're probably on Pro.

Hi, check the 3CX feature list comparison. It was updated that Open AI transcription requires the Enterprise edition license.

You may want to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager tool. We support a lot more OpenAI features and it works with V18 and V20 Pro.

Thank you for that. When did they change that? I’m so confused lol - everything was working fine.

So they just decided they would make OpenAI integration an enterprise feature and turned off Pro integration mid-license? Like I said, my OpenAI project integration has been working with my Pro license since we upgraded to v20 months ago. I used the online guide to get everything setup and it’s been great. Why was our Pro license working with OpenAI and now it’s not?

I’m also not really understanding the Enterprise license requirement. As we already pay for our OpenAI platform projects. Why do we need to pay extra for an Enterprise license when 3CX is not doing the processing, and OpenAI is cheap, costs us less than $1 month to handle our transcriptions and our users are on the phone all day, lots of voicemails. The additional cost for Enterprise per year, while not unaffordable, would add a little over 4x the cost of what we pay now. So I’m thinking we have to switch back to Google?

This is a rhetorical question. You know why.

OpenAI is a highly desired feature 3CX can position to move customers to the "Enterprise" version of 3CX. Maybe you could argue that smaller customers don't care about phone call analysis, so logically this feature is more appropriate for enterprise-class customers?

Every software company on the planet uses this approach to upsell customers to the higher-end versions of their products. This has nothing to do with cost from 3CX's perspective, rather, this is about marketing to larger enterprises that need analysis.

I've just spoken to my 3cx distributer and have been told that transcription with OpenAI whisper will be returned for voicemail only in Update 5. So.. that's a thing.

I an Enterprise license running v20 Update 4 (Build 487 Release) but under Integrations -> Transcription the only options are Off and Google Speech. Where did OpenAI go?

Never mind. It just showed after about 20 minutes.
