Does anyone have any cost experience for using the v20 U2 transcription? Like $X per hour of audio or per 100 MB of audio File?

I found this online
Whisper API follows a usage-based pricing model: customers pay $0.006/minute for audio processing.

Just wondering if this is a real-world number or if there are other cost factors?

At that rate we would be talking about $0.36 / hour or $8.64 / day. These seem affordable as long as they are representative.

Thanks

It's pretty well priced.

A system we maintain with around 400 users which gets around 2500 inbound and outbound calls a day that's doing voicemail only costs less than $1.

A different system has around 500-600 calls a month which does voicemail and call transcription is about $3 a month.

Right. I don't expect the voicemail transcription to cost much. I'm wondering about a busy system that is transcribing call recordings.

This one does call recordings. But its hard to say as all systems are different. Some have 30sec calls and some have 30 mins calls.

Just enable it for a day as you get detailed usage and billing for each project. You'll then get an exact number.

I did just that, enabled it for a workday. If I'm reading the graph right, transcribed seconds it's like 15.4 hours of transcription on the clients call, which in dollars was charged $9.44 for that day.

That's my real world experience. This was for voicemail (little) and full call recording.

OpenAI requires an Enterprise edition license and it is enforced since U3.

You may want to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager tool. It does not require the Enterprise edition, and we offer many additional features.

For example, with our tool you are not limited to just a transcription, summary, and sentiment analysis. With our tool you can ask as many questions as you want about your recordings and your agents. For example, you might want a list of action items discussed, or the key points of the conversation, or any appointments/deadlines discussed. Perhaps you would like more information about how well your agents are handling calls? For example, you could ask OpenAI to score the agent on knowledge, courtesy, effective communication, whether they informed the caller the call was being recorded, or even ask for suggestions on how the agent could more effectively close the sale. There really is no limit to what you can ask.

We also help you manage analysis costs by allowing you to define which calls are being analyzed. You can select specific users, or you can choose to only perform analysis on a call-by-call basis. While the tiny cost of OpenAI makes me wonder how they make money, with very busy businesses the pennies do add up after awhile. Being able to selectively chose which calls are analyzed can be important.
