Hey Team,

When one creates predefined keys and certificates for the Win. XP clients, in order to connect to the vpn, does one use "Windows Client(separated files) or should one use "Embedded Windows Client(one file .ovpn)?

Not sure even if I am doing it right. I have several OpenVPN on Androids and they work fine but I have one lousy windows XP client I can't seem to get working. It tries to connect then disconnects right away (using the one file .ovpn).

What would one suggest is the best way to track what is going on when OpenVpn is trying to connect? Log Files where?

Thanks,

Are using OpenVPN GUI? Right click, view log.

You can try adding verbose 5 to the ovpn file to get a more detailed log.

The embedded file cointains all the Signatures in one file, I mean, the file has the separated files in one txt file. So basically is the same.

As described above check and share the log trace to get the error cause.

tirsojrp,

You posted: "Are using OpenVPN GUI? Right click, view log." Yes the GUI in Elastix, when you say "right click" which one, the Elastix GUI OpenVPN cause there s no log under that when right clicking. Maybe I'm just lacking a brain and not understanding...

navaismo: Thank you, I thought that was correct. Thank you for verifying.

I am talking about the OpenVPN client on Windows, OpenVPN GUI.

1 - Use the latest version from: http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html
2 - Place config files in program files\openvpn\config\
3 - Run OpenVPN GUI with administrative privileges
4 - OpenVPN icon in notification area > Right click > Connect
5 - If something fails > Right click > View log

Post the log here.

tirsojrp,

Thank you very much. I got it working. I started from scratch all over again.Once I downloaded the latest version from your posted link, moved the the config files over, then it started working. For some reason it wouldn't do just the single .OpenVPN file so I did the Windows Client(separated files) and all is working now.

Once a gain, thank you....

Now all I have to do is see why video conference between two units works great communicating direct thru network to server and not when I route the units calls thru OpenVPN. Thru OpenVPN the call with video starts then within about 10 seconds the call hangs up (ends). Probably a bandwidth issue I would suspect.
