Opus - Yealink T48S

I am running version 16.0.9 on Windows 10 Pro. I still don't see any option to add OPUS as a codec under provisioning for these phones? I asked this question about a year ago. Thanks

The reason certain Yealink models still don't have an Opus codec is because "Opus" is added to all models that are specified in the same Template file.
The problem is that in the same Template file as the T48S, there are other models that don't support Opus.

We plan on moving some of the older models out of the same template into a separate file thus leaving only the newer models. Once this is happens we shall re-assess the models left and if they all support Opus, then we will be able to add it.

Only the T5x series support OPUS with 3CX. T4x don't.

Got it. Thanks for the info. I was looking at a yealink T58A this morning. In the real world with a lot of G.711 what are your guys experience with sound quality using opus with 3cx? A lot of people are still advising against it.

We use it internally, works well. But externally, stick to G711/G729 or G722 when your provider supports it.

OPUS works fine, but unless your trunking provider supports OPUS it's generally not worth the trouble since you'll be incurring transcoding for all external calls.
