Solved our 3cx FQDN did not renewed automatically

We are running a self-hosted 3CX system on a Windows VM with the Version: 20.0 (Update 5, Build 551). It worked perfect but suddenly today, we are unable to access the system thru FQDN and says SSL certificate is expired.

As far as I know, the SSL certificate renews automatically (3cx.xxxx.us) but this this it did not renew. I tried also check customer portal to check if there is FQDN refresh or renewal but no luck, I can not see it.

Has anyone experience this issue and how to resolve it?

under Settings -> Parameters

TEMPORARY_SELF_SIGNED_CERTIFICATE_GENERATED set the value to 1

If Windows:

Use CMD (administrator)

Run the following command:

"C:\Program Files\3CX Phone System\Bin\PbxConfigTool.exe" -renew-certificates

If Linux:

Login SSH as root

- su phonesystem
- sr/lib/3cxpbx/PbxConfigTool -renew-certificates

Wait about 5 minutes.

You may need to restart nginx.

service nginx restart

The correct path is :

/usr/lib/3cxpbx/PbxConfigTool -renew-certificates


Also Nginx is a must to be restarted as without it, the renew will not apply.

Logs after this can be checked here :

For Linux :

You can check the :
/var/lib/3cxpbx/Data/Logs/PbxConfigToolRenewCertificates.log


For Windows :
You can check C:\ProgramData\3CX\Data\Logs\PbxConfigToolRenewCertificates.log
