On the Away, Do Not Disturb and Business Trip statuses, there are checkboxes labeled "Out of Office Hours Voicemail." Can someone better explain how this works? I've seen forum posts and I'm still confused and I've tried finding official documentation but no luck.

Thanks!

I don't know this label. Is this a 3CX v18 or a 3CX v20? Where does the 3CX run?

The checkboxes in v20 on-prem in Admin / Users / Call Forwarding / <status> are labeled:

Greeting:
When in this status, use this custom Voicemail greeting:

I think this is self-explanatory.

If you mean something different, please explain where and what.

Okay I think I understand. When these checkboxes are set next to "Forward internal/external calls to: Voicemail" its letting you choose a specific "Out of Office hours Voicemail"

Now I just need to find where to set the Out of Office hours Voicemail.

All this option does is send the call to the voicemail when you are out of office hours

Take this extension for example.

When i am in the Do not disturb status during office hours, it will send the call to extension 101.

However, when I am in Do not Disturb but it is out of my office hours it will send it to my voicemail.

So on Tuesday between 9AM and 6PM if I am in DND it will go to 101

But from Tuesday 6:01PM to Tuesday 8:59AM it will go to extension 100's voicemail.

Now I know what you mean: the selection on the right and its meaning.

I think these two checkboxes are not described clearly.

The meaning is: if the status of the extension is as selected (away, DND ...) and this extension is outside of business hours (due to the department or your own), then the rule shown is not followed but forwarded to the VMB.

The announcement is still the one set below.

So in the example of my screenshot where I have it set to "Forward internal/external calls to: Voicemail," checking the "Out of Office hours Voicemail" box basically has no effect. Am I understanding that correctly?

yes ;)

Strange. I wonder why it even exists as an option.
It has no effect in your case because you are sending it to the voicemail anyway.

It only has an effect if the destination is different. The checkbox is there and isnt context based.

Gotcha. I guess I would assume that the option would go away or be greyed out or something if it doesn't do anything.
I thought it meant I could set a separate voicemail for out of office hours.
