Hello,

Last night we received a notification that one of our 3CX-powered PBX setups is running out of space. We checked the instance and yes, the root file system displayed 100% usage. So we removed local backups we don't need anymore, resolved the problem and in the meanwhile disocvered that email notification refers to a different file system:

3CX installation is running out of space. (0 bytes Space left out of 500 Mb).

Could someone please explain the logic of this notification? Just in case, here's the df command output:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
udev 511M 0 511M 0% /dev
tmpfs 105M 12M 94M 11% /run
/dev/vda1 26G 14G 11G 56% /
tmpfs 523M 13k 523M 1% /dev/shm
tmpfs 5.3M 0 5.3M 0% /run/lock
tmpfs 523M 0 523M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
tmpfs 105M 0 105M 0% /run/user/0

3CX Version: Enterprise Annual 16.0.1078
Server OS: Debian 9 v16.0.655
Is the 3CX Server Hosted: no
IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware: Yealink T58A v58.85.0.5
Provisioning Method: SBC
Trunk Provider: Vitelity
Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES
Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO

The 3CX PBX is indeed monitoring the filesystem on which 3CX is installed. The notification you received is just referring to the last 500MB available on the current filesystem, it is not the total size of any filesystem. The value of 500MB is merely a predefined value defined by 3CX to be used as a flag for a harddisk that is near capacity.

What a perfect explanation. Thank you so much for the full and complete reply!
