Hello,

We have a client that needs to be able to dial out from the same phone and have the choice to show different outbound caller ID numbers. Can this be done with having the phone provisioned? We are using a Grandstream 2170 with V16 of 3CX. I've got it to work now, but it has to be manually done without the provisioning link to the PBX. Of course, life would be much easier if it were provisioned.

I don't understand how you got this to work through provisioning. Are you reprovisioning the phone every time you want to change the caller ID?

There are essentially 3 ways you can control the outbound caller ID:
  1. Assigning a caller ID to a trunk
  2. Assigning a caller ID to an extension
  3. Assigning a caller ID to an emergency number.
I would suggest manipulating the caller ID assigned to the extension.

My guess is they have more than 1 extension on the phone, 1 way to change caller ID is to have 1 trunk for each number, and use a prefix to dial out, make the adjustments in your outbound rules to strip the prefix, and use this trunk to make the call, otherwise having multiple lines on the phone will work, but it is not supported.
