Hello,

I would like to create outbound rules where for certain numbers 3CX will overwrite the caller ID specified in the extension's settings.
I think I'm on the right track with the Outbound caller ID options in the trunk settings. I found this Caller ID Reformatting page but at the bottom, it reads "Outbound Caller ID Reformatting requires the use of the “OriginatorCallerID” to be active in the SIP Trunk “Outbound Parameters” and I get lost here.

There are a dozen values in the outbound parameter settings that have the option OriginatorCallerID. So which one do I need to change to enable the outbound caller ID rules?

Thank you,

Hello @Exchange

Please note that you cannot reformat the caller ID of an extension based on the dialled number. The reformatting is done based on the caller ID used so the set caller ID will re reformatted for all calls.

Regarding the "OriginatorCallerID" value, this depends on what SIP field the provider uses to read the caller ID. Most common is the From: User Part field but other providers use the Remote Party ID or P-Asserted Identity field. From the PBX side the reformatted caller ID will be set to every field that has the "OriginatorCallerID" set.
