Hi All,
I am trying to setup a new 3CX where users can call from multiple departments, each department has their own DID going to a queue. For calling out I would like a way of the user selecting which number they appear to be calling out from. I am aware of some limitations with 3CX that don't allow a user to simply select a line to call out from. The proposed solution from looking at a number of threads is to configure an outbound rule with a prefix eg *1 to change the caller id as suggested here: https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...utbound-calls-based-on-dialing-pattern.76046/
This problem appears to have multiple answers across the forum however these are mostly in reference to v16 and before so I would like to know if this is the best approach for v18 on a Pro licence. I am also aware of 3cx tools 3rd party app for this functionality, however the pricing is prohibitive for a small scale deployment.
My other question is if this is the best way, should I be storing contacts numbers with their corresponding prefix (for which line they should be contacted by) in my CRM (Salesforce) or would it make more sense to import all contacts to 3cx with Mobile 2 saved as the number with the corresponding prefix for the line they should be called from? I want to avoid having to enter the prefix manually as when using the softphone with contacts as it dials the number in one click (preventing me from adding the prefix).
I am still waiting for my SIP trunks to be deployed so haven't been able to play around with it yet, but it would be nice to hear from anyone that has a similar setup and how they implement it.
