Hi All,

If I wanted to bar all staff from dialling numbers starting with 118, would I go to Outbound Rules and do the attached? And then move it to the top of the list? Basically, 118* doesn't have a route out as in my picture -

You wouldnt need to add the *, youd also need to choose block from the dropdown

I thought I would need the 118* as there is a number of 6 digit numbers in UK that start with 118 and I want to bar them all. Would I still not need the * wildcard? And from the block dropdown, I would choose the SIP provider, and then strip how many digits? 6? As all118 numbers would be 118XXX?

the rule would be calls that prefix 118 and a length of 6, block

So like this....

Ah they took out the block calls drop down in v20 by the looks of it.

not sure if your rule will work, but i suspect it will.

you could also make a dummy sip trunk and have it go to this instead.

OK. Thanks for this.

Actually, I think if you dont select your SIP provider in the route 0 - this applies the "Block Calls"

So as per my first snip I sent in this thread?

no, like this

Ahhhhh, with the calls to numbers with a length of 6 added. Perfect. Thank you.

Using the outbound rule approach works well --IF-- the numbers follow a very specific pattern and no permitted numbers get caught in the rule. You certainly do not want 118 outbound rules :)

If this approach eventually becomes unwieldy, you may want to take a look at our 3CX Do Not Call tool. This tool makes it simple to manage millions of blocked numbers.
