We have a MAJOR issue with sending SMS messages and I should start by saying we using Groups, and most important call Queues that users belong to. We run a call center and have many incoming phone numbers and even more defined in the Trunk from our SIP provider. However, ONLY a FEW NUMBERS are setup to use SMS messaging.

Everything works fine with SMS, UNTIL we attempt to SEND a message.

a) Select + SEND SMS
b) Type or select a Phone # to send to
c) Pops up SELECT Provider (and LIST hundred of our phone #'s, that the agent must find BY PHONE #, because you can not give a number a NAME)

This is frankly STUPID and best.

Someone PLEASE tell me how to assign ONE or TWO numbers for a user or better a department to send SMS messages from.

Of course I've read that you can ASSIGN a Number to a person but that doesn't work because it takes it away from the Call Queue.

Use a separate trunk for SMS, only put the SMS-enabled DIDs and point them where you want. Simple as that.
