Hello,

we have a problem with redirecting calls.

Providers in foreign countries (for example poland) use the number from P-Asserted-Identity Field, so we need to set it to OriginatorCallerId, otherwise the main number of the trunk would be displayed on the called person's display.

If we set the number of P-Asserted-Identity to "Originiator Caller ID", everything works except if the called person has a redirect number, then the call fails, because the Caller-Number is set in P-Asserted Identity Field, and our provider doesn't know that number. These Options are set:

From : User Part OriginatorCallerID
From : Display Name OriginatorCallerID
P-Asserted Identity : OriginatorCallerID

If we set the number of P-Asserted-Identity to "OutboundLineId", everything works except if we call a foreign country, the main number is displayed, on the called person's display. These Options are set:

From : User Part OriginatorCallerID
From : Display Name OriginatorCallerID
P-Asserted Identity : OutboundLineID

The only solution we came up with is an extra SIP trunk, which would be used as Redirecting Trunk where we set the P-Asserted-Identity to OutboundLineID. We would set the P-Asserted-Identity to OriginatorCallerID on our Main Trunk. Because of that, we would need an extra trunk, what would incur additional costs.

Is there a possibility to make the P-Asserted-Identity Field dynamic or are there any other possibilities to resolve this "issue" without having to buy an extra trunk?

Best Regards,

Sadin Junuzovic

Hi Sadin,

Perhaps I did not understand the issue correctly but it looks to me that your issue would be resolved if you used the "OutboundCallerID" option instead of the "OriginatorCallerID" one.

From : User Part OutboundCallerID
From : Display Name OutboundCallerID
P-Asserted Identity : OutboundCallerID

So in forwarded calls the fields would be populated with the trunks number and in foreign calls the outbound caller id of the person performing the call would be displayed.

Try it and let us know

Hello YiannishH,

oh the issue is now resolved. Thank you, but I have one more question. Is it possible to populate the field with the trunk number but display the caller id of the person performing the call? With the options that you sent, caller id of the person performing the call is displayed when calling foreign countries and thats perfect, but the trunk number is displayed in forwarded calls and we would want to somehow display the caller id of the person performing the call. Thanks for your time

That depends on where you do the forwarding and how.
Let's assume that the inbound call goes to extension 100 and that extension has an outbound caller ID of 123456789.
If you set that extension to Away and forward all calls to an outside number then the caller ID displayed will be 123456789.
If the forwarding is done at the trunk level or the inbound rule level then the outbound caller ID will be the caller ID of the trunk.

Yeah, that works now, but if a inbound call(123456789) goes to extension 100 and the extension has an outbound caller ID of 9874564321, the number from extension 100 would be displayed. Is it possible that the number from inbound call (123456789) is displayed?

In your initial issue you describe that when you are trying to do this (using the OriginatorCallerID) the main trunk number is displayed so I am guessing your provider does not support this functionality and you can only present numbers that are associated to your trunk as your caller ID. If you try to present something else then your provider replaces your caller id with your main trunk number.
3CX can send whatever you want it to (almost) as long as your provider supports it. I would speak with your provider and see if this functionality is supported or not and if it is what settings are needed to make this work.
Some providers change this as an extra service some need specific SIP headers to make this work. In same countries sending a caller ID that does not belong to your trunk is illegal.
