PBX Delivers Audio

So I've read many posts on the PBX delivers audio setting though I can't find any post explaining the difference between the PBX delivers audio setting under extension settings vs sip trunk settings. I think most people would assume this is something of a master setting that any call using the relevant SIP trunk has it's RTP traffic routed through the PBX. Is this assumption correct or is there more to it?
