performance issues with NGINX (the web server)

Hi all,

i have a 3CX windows 1.5 latest updates runing.

I have over 890 phones registered, accross 5 differente offices joined together in an MPLS WAN. Everything works just find except when it comes to upgrade the firmware of the phones.

i have noticed, since 3CX no longer uses IIS as the webserver, there are significant performance issues with NGINX.

I cannot upgrade firmware of more then 5-10 phones at a time or else the dowload times out.

This is not related to the network but related specifically from NGINX web server. There are known issues with this server that even though there is multiple deamon running, only 1 really deas all the work and it cannot sustain more then 1024 connections simultaniuouly. Theses connections include 3CX client, downloads and any other HTTP/S connections.

Why did 3CX go with this web server engine when there are known performance issues with it?

Known issues

• Although several workers can be started, only one of them actually does any work.
• A worker can handle no more than 1024 simultaneous connections.
• The UDP proxy functionality is not supported.

does anyone know if the Linux version also runs the NGINX and if that version has the same performance issues?

This has go to do with your network, not the NGINX web server. NGINX is behind the biggest websites on the internet. If downloads are timing out its likely to be bandwidth / network config....
