Hi Everyone,

I'm encountering a persistent challenge while configuring the hotdesking feature on 3CX PBX and dealing with the voicemail PIN for users. Here's a brief overview:

1. **Hotdesking and Call Tracing:**
- I'm attempting to set up a system where users can make calls using a shared IP phone, and we can trace the caller's identity without requiring manual logins on the devices.

2. **Voicemail PIN Issue:**
- Specifically, we're facing an issue with the PIN for voicemail access and hotdesking login. We've tried various solutions, including changing the PIN and disabling voicemail PIN authentication, but the system consistently reports the PIN as invalid.

If anyone has encountered a similar challenge or has insights into how to tackle this issue, I'd greatly appreciate your input. Perhaps there's a workaround or a specific configuration that we've missed.

Your assistance will be highly valued. Thank you!

Best regards,

Stupid question, but did you add the extension to the hotdesking group/pool?

No worries at all! I believe your question is valid.

I'm not entirely certain - is adding the extension to the hotdesking group/pool the same as enabling the extension's hotdesking feature from the management console? If so, then yes, I believe I've ensured the hotdesking feature for the extensions. However, I haven't specifically created a group. Should I proceed to create one?

The PIN is required to validate the extension login. So removing the PIN will not make any difference. As a first step please navigate under Dashboard<<Settings<<System Prompts. If there are any available prompts update proceed and restart the IVR service for the update to take affect. Then ensure that you are using the Hotdesking Feature as per guideline.

No need for a group, you enabled what you need to.

Can you provide the following info?

Of note, can you mention phone models, firmware, if using custom templates, and how they are connected to the PBX (Direct SIP, SBC, Local)

  • Server OS, Windows 10 vm
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where? On-premise
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware version, Fanvil X5u-V2 and fanvil X301P
  • Provisioning Method: Local /STUN (isn't working currently)
  • Trunk Provider or VoIP Gateway Make/Model, N/A ( no gateway client side , so im not sure what to answer do you need to know wich company is providing the trunks or wich method/standard of communicationits using )
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES ( im not entirely sure need to confirm come Monday)
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: NO

  • Provisioning Method: Local /STUN (isn't working currently)
