What hardware appliance? The SBC or the PBX?

If the issue is network-related, your IT guy is probably the person to reach to tho.

Its PBX..

Manually the connection LAN and WAN ports.. I'm assuming one to internal to local network, and WAN (uplink) to router.. (there is a switch in between)

In the 3CX forums we generally try to help best we can with anything 3CX related but even if we can't due to the matter not being directly related to 3CX or involving an unsupported configuration, our community members and 3CX Partners are always eager to help and provide useful information.

It goes without saying however that matters completely unrelated to 3CX should not be posted.

With the above in mind, could you please elaborate a bit more on the issue you are facing as I am not sure I completely understood the situation.

Sure... We have purchased from this: https://www.call4tel.com/3cx-pbx-appliances/nx96/

however, he got in touch with support via Live Chat, but they couldn't help as they said to contact parner.. i'm assuming that's 3CX.

The issue is the appliance has two ports WAN and LAN.... Based on : https://www.call4tel.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/3cx-nx96-quick-start-guide.pdf

LAN cable "Sip trunk' but do we need one? I've set up software on Linux myself and on Window to help out. but this is the first time is we're dealing with a physical box... From what i understand with setting up Sophos XG firewalls anyway, LAN goes to network, and WAN goes to gateway, however this quickstart guide with the NX96 shows LAN goes to "Sip Trunk",

That's the confusing piece, is it required?

Apart from the above, the rest is ready to go....

Looking at the doc, you need to only use the wan port which is connected to the local network and router if you do not need a separate connection to your sip provider. Step 1.2 of document. Do not configure static routes

Wan port is the default https://www.call4tel.com/community/ssh/lan-or-wan-interface/

Info on 3cx supported networks

https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/network-configurations-supported-3cx-phone-system/

What version of 3cx is it running ? . Can you upgrade it, (v18 and Debian 10) as ithe device appears to have a web front gui.

Info on upgrading https://www.call4tel.com/tech-guides/nx32-upgrade/

This is a call4tel issue, as there is a web based gui which configures 3cx software which is not standard.

Just to clarify, since it's not a device produced by 3CX we can't really provide assistance for it so I'd recommend checking it's documentation as per @Saqqara 's post above or even contacting the vendor directly. After you've managed to setup the device itself and then moved on to configure the software(3CX) that is where we will most likely be able to help out should you need anything.

That said, as you've already seen, our community members and partners are eager to help so don't hesitate to ask for anything else you need regarding this setup if you reach a dead end.
