We are trying to implement forced account codes to restrict / allow outbound calling, but 3CX does not have this feature. So, alternatively, we are looking into 3CX PIN authentication.
Our PIN authentication number is 7777. Authentication works with the voicemail PIN; we get the call-allowed response from the IVR, then the IVR drops. There is no prompt to dial a secondary number.
We've created an outbound rule for 7-digit dialling for the department, excluding the test user from the extension numbers.
Calls are still not made; we get a call forbidden by administrator error or no outbound lines available for this call.
We also noticed that the PIN protect timer field in User Options is greyed out and cannot be changed.
External calls are disabled on this user extension; toggling that setting does not allow us to change the PIN protect timer.

What are we doing wrong?

The system is 3CX PRO 16 SC, 20.0 Update 9 (Build 995), MULTI company enabled

You can always restrict calls based on outbound rules. For example you can set a specific prefix which will allow specific extension(s) to make the call. More information is also here.

This is a feature called PIN Protect IVR. The user has to call the IVR (777 or 7777 depending of the digit length of the PBX), and from there user will be prompt to enter the VM PIN. Depending on the time that was set under the extension options, the user will be allowed to make outbound calls during this time period.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, we are unable to set the time under the extension options; it's greyed out, as I mentioned.

Using prefixes in the outbound rules means creating outbound rules for each user by destination/digit length. Not feasible for this size customer.

It is a multitenant installation?

For multitenant this is expected therefore it will be greyed out.
In this case this has to be limited using outbound rules with specific conditions.

ok thanks, is that documented anywhere for the multi-tenant environment?

The PIN Protect IVR is a system extension which apply system wide and cannot be one specific for department therefore it is limited for the Multi Tenant installations.
