I want some extensions to enter a pin first for outbound calls. The manual says

"The pin protect feature is to allow outbound calls only after they enter a PIN.
To unlock the extension, the user dials 777 followed by the PIN (Voicemail Pin Number) and a #.
The PBX will inform the user that access has been granted and the user can proceed to dial external numbers"

This is not working and the activity log says Target endpoint for 777XXXX can not be built! (XXXX is voicemail pin)

Any ideas please

Hello @Darlington Chikumba

You will to dial 777, Wait for the PIN protect IVR to answer and then enter the PIN followed by the #

Hello @ YiannisJ_3CX

Thank you for your response. When i dial 777 i do not get the PIN protect IVR. Call just hangs up and i now get "Target endpoint for 777 can not be built!" in the logs

Please navigate to Dashboard and the then System extensions. Do you see the Pin protect IVR listed there? If so what is the extension number?

Thank you. Unlike in the manual the Pin protect IVR is actually listed as 7777. I have tested with this and i can enter pin and get "Access allowed by system" after this i cannot dial out instead I get a busy tone and call ends abruptly

Glad to see the first part is working for you. How long is the option "Enable PIN Protect" enabled for?
Do you have an outbound rule matching the dialled number?

I have it set to 10 seconds

Yes I have an outbound rule matching the dialled number and i can dial it sucessfully from an extension that does not have PIN protect. However on an extension with PIN protect as soon as i enter the pin and get "Access allowed by system" the call ends before i can dial the number

So you dial 7777, you input the voicemail pin followed by # and you get the prompt access allowed by system. That call should then terminate and you should make a new call to dial the desired number. The system will the user to dial a number in the time span declared in the "Enable PIN Protect" field

Thank you. It works.

The manual does not explain it the way you do. Many thanks for all your help

Glad to see the issue has been resolved. I will see if the guide can be improved.
