Hi Guys, our office has 3 phone numbers on the same sip trunk all 3 going to the same ext. front desk, we would like to prepend the incoming caller id numbers from each DID to show which number the calls are coming from meaning if someone calls DID1 from +1818-555-5555 , we would like it to show ABC-818-555-5555 , so get rid of the +1 to make it shorter and prepend ABC- so she knows how to answer the call.
I know it has to do with sip trunk options and reformatting inbound caller id but i couldn't figure out the source and replace pattern.
Much appreciated.

You probably want to be careful with trying to modify the caller ID as than can mess with the ability to redial the caller number. I can think of a few other options which may work better:

  1. You can assign a description to the DID using the pencil icon next to the DID number in the destination extension configuration. The assigned DID description will then appear in the phone app with the caller ID.
  2. You can route the call to a Ring Group with the desired extension as a member. The ring group name will appear in the phone app separate from the caller ID.
You can control how the DID description or Ring Group name is displayed by going to Admin, System, Phonebook and click Options. Look for "Add Group, Queue or DID/DDI Names to Caller ID".

Hi Jody, thanks for the suggestions, option 1 worked perfect, never noticed that pencil next to the DID but it did the trick.
Thanks again, this was very helpful.
