I am just curious to your guys opinion on pstn gateways. I am only interested in three brands that are supported by 3cx and want to get opinions on which is the most reliable brand. I am between the Patton gateways, Welltech gateways, and the Beronet gateways. Any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Hi MikeyG,

Patton would be my most favorable. They are extremely reliable and rock solid units.

They are very flexible as well however you need a fair bit of competence to understand them if you were to login and start setting them up manually - luckily you don't have to as 3CX will auto configure these for you via a template - just make sure you do not get a Trinity based Patton, it must be Smartware to be supported by 3CX.

FYI I do have 3CX-Trinity based templates (un-supported) written up in the event that Patton make the switch to Trinity as their program of choice but for now try and stick to the supported Smartware versions::https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/

I have used beroNet also, they are not as reliable as Patton but if you wanted to set them up manually the interface is easier to understand - but not as flexible - again they support auto-configuration with 3CX so this is not a factor.

The one thing that beroNet do provide that Patton do not in regards to gateways is a GSM gateway however requirement for these I find have been scarce.

beroNet for sure, Quality, easy to setup, great support if needed.

Have you used any brands other than beronet?

Regardless of supported by 3CX - I've used beronet, Grandstream , Patton and Mediatrix.

From my experience I would say for reliability and quality Patton and Mediatrix would come first then Grandstream and lastly beronet.

The only thing i could recommend is choosing a supported device regardless of brand so you are fully supported and there is no need to manually configure the gateway. So even if you face an issue we are in a position to help you resolve it.

You definitely want a supported device, some gateways are extremely complex and require familiarity to get them configured - 3CX makes it easier by auto configuring for you, and as YiannisH_3CX says you want support from 3CX also.

I am familiar with the devices. I have deployed multiple Patton gateways, but ONLY Patton. So I just wanted to get your guys opinion and see if there was a better brand that what I am using.

My thoughts - stick with Patton they are the best.

That being said keep an eye on where they go in the future with the Trinity operating system, this has yet to be "supported" by 3CX and will be what they use for their devices going forward.

Hopefully 3CX will approve Trinity soon.
