Query on operating 3cx appliance in a closed network

Hi,

We have requirement to operate 3cx on an appliance in a closed network. The closed network does not have any internet connectivity, and hence the 3cx appliance is not able to connect to the internet.

Can you advise if 3cx can operate in such a closed network ? will there be any impact in call functionality, chat function, License, updates to new version, etc ?

This question has come up before, a few times. I've seen a few answers, such as, you only require it for the initial set up and registration.

Keep in mind, these are from a few years ago. I suspect that the latest version will not function for very long without connecting to the internet, on occation.

Yes, but you can buy several years of 3CX License, eg 10 years, and your 3CX Server will work for the initial 1 + 10 Years.
Edit- Without the need to go to the Internet.

It still needs to recheck the license often, which might make it drop to Standard if it can't reach the activation server.

Normally, you just have very good outbound firewall rules but still allow activation to go through.

We had a similar request for an 11 years license on a completely closed-down network, and received the below directly from the horse's mouth on 7 February 2023:

Yes, it will work. You may offer them an Annual license for as many years as they want.
Just ensure that the server/instance is not affected by any changes in the network topology as this will force the pbx to try contact the activation server…
