Reassigning Phones

I occasionally need to reassign phones as employees leave, move, etc. I just deleted one user [not their phone] and wanted to reassign their phone to someone else, but now I cant find that phone easily. Is there a list anywhere of unassigned phones? This would be much easier than having to look up and enter a MAC address.

If it’s in the same LAN as the server, or behind an SBC, there’s a PnP button on the Phones page in v20.

Yeah I looked and the phone isn't there. It's considered a PnP phone also. This is a hosted system with a SBC also

In future, go to the team view and use the CLEAR and ASSIGN feature.

Yes, deleting the extension means the phone is now using invalid credentials, so it will no longer appear in 3CX.

Factory reset it, and then you can assign it to any extension you desire.

Thanks! This feature is very helpful but kind of hidden. I would think there should be a link to do this under the phones view also

Clear and assign is the quickest way to go..

agree. much easier than factory reset.

if I delete the user, the old PW is still in effect which I no longer have to do it through the phone GUI. Therefore the factor reset has to be physically performed which is a pain.

Morning! I have a slightly different question than what I posed above.

I have an employee that has 2 physical phones in the office. I have want to reassign one of the phones to a different user. Does this require factory reset or is there a simpler way? Clear and assign seems to be best if that user is completely gone/left but in this scenario it would delete both their phones and accounts.

Remove it from the current user's extension first.

Then factory reset it, and then you can assign it to any extension you desire.
