Recording archiving

I am having an issue when trying to archive call recordings. I have tried SMB, FTP and SFTP but cannot get it to accept the server path. Am I missing something as it is a hosted instance and I am attempting to connect to a server on our internal network i.e not the network the 3CX server resides on?

Assuming the appropriate inbound ports are forwarded (ideally only from the server IP) is the firewall on the destination set to allow access from the server IP?

Am I right in thinking the SMB/FTP share has to either reside on the network with the hosted 3CX instance or at least have ports forwarded to an external IP? If so I may have to consider other options as we currently have no way of forwarding internal devices to an external IP/port.

Yes it has to be able to connect. I would write that as forwarding the port on the external IP to the server's private IP but it does need a path.
