I have a phone I need to swap out but the DID is obviously still attached to a phone in the system. The old phone was already deleted so is there a way to release the DID after a phone has been removed from the dashboard system?

DIDs have nothing to do with phones.

They are in the SIP Trunk configuration, DID tab.

Hi @texmansru47

If you mean you had an inbound rule pointing the DID to an extension then once the extension is deleted the Inbound rule is still there but the destination changes to "End Call". You can still delete the inbound rule from your Inbound rules tab and delete the DID from your SIP Trunk settings like @ConceptsWeb suggested.

If you remove the DID rule, so that there is no longer a number match, and your provider continues to send calls with that DID (because you have not cancelled the DID number with them) , it will follow the default route, set for the incoming trunk.

I got the DID fixed - thank you all. I am still having issues when I call into that number from the outside or dial out there is no sound. I thought I saw somewhere that was maybe a CODEC issue. Where can I find out more about that?

So what is the destination now that the extension has been removed? When you say, there is no sound calling out, do you mean on all calls, out over that trunk, or from a specific extension?

Place a call from the outside, to the DID number, then have look at the 3CX Activity Log (may require setting to Verbose). That will show where the call now routes, if it even make it into 3CX.
As I said previously, if the there is no no longer a DID rule, to be able to make a match, the call should follow the default route, for the incoming trunk.

Glad to see your DID issue got sorted. Regarding the no audio issue, did you pass the firewall checker? Are all your audio ports open?

I got the log from the outside call to the DID. I cannot make heads or tails of it.

The first line is: 11/29/2021 10:50:29 AM - Default best-route IP is determined as 10.0.0.43
Which is my 3CX server

I have attached the file if anyone wants to review it. I know I have something screwy setup on the server... just starring at it too long maybe is why I cannot see it.

Yep... everything was green and good.

The call setup looks good on both legs to/from the carrier as well as to/from the user's phone. The call comes into the system and terminates at a Fanvil device at 10.0.0.221, extension 5010. Unless I'm reading it wrong, both the carrier and device are setup as PCMU as the first option for RTP traffic so codec "shouldn't" be an issue. Have you tried using the 3CX app for answering calls to this extension? If there is audio on the app, I would wipe out the phone, let it re-provision, and then test again.

I just called from the 3CX application on my cell and get the same results... no sound on either device.

Have you successfully run the Firewall Checker?

I assume you are using a new DID rule and sending the number to a new extension?

If you call the extension directly, there is audio?

If you delete the DID rule, and the call follows the trunks default route, is there audio?

If you direct the rule to another extension, does it work?

From your extension try dialing *777 and see if you can hear your self. This will determine if there is audio between the extension and the PBX. So we at least know that one leg of the call works.

I did all of this and still no sound.

Yes that worked... I heard myself very clearly.

That is good. It means that the communication between the device and the PBX is working so the issue is somewhere between the PBX and the provider.
So the next step is to run a packet capture and analyze it so see where the audio is missing. Did you contact your provider regarding this? Perhaps they can see something from their side that justifies this.

No I haven't reached out the SIP provider but I will now.
