Hi everyone,

We used PBX Express to deploy our new 3CX instance on Lightsail which is working fine. Since you can't rename the instance, it said to take a snapshot and restore as a new instance. So I just tried that, figuring it's a good test of my backup, as the main reason we used Lightsail vs EC2 was due to how it's easier to just take a snapshot and restore it.

When I restore the snapshot though to a new instance, and then point the static IP to that new instance, I can SSH into it fine, but 3CX doesn't work at all. The web interface just loads forever and gives an error about unable to connect, almost like if you were trying to go to skfjesiiewrdsf.com or something invalid. I rebooted a few times, waited a bit but never got it to work, so just pointed the static IP back to the original instance and it worked fine.

Just wondering if there's something else that needs to be done, as I'm fine keeping it with the default name, but just has me concerned should I ever need to create a new image from a snapshot in a backup/restore type situation. I've done this before with things like Wordpress and it has always worked fine, so just wondering if something else needs to be changed when doing it with 3CX.

Thanks!

3cx remembers last state, as to say if services were off, on a reboot the services will stay off. On a snapshot I am not sure how it would react. if you can ssh into the server, try to restart services and see if that helps you get back in.

Great thanks I'll give that a try again tonight to see. Snapshots are taken of the live system so the snapshot would have been of the system turned on, but then when it restores to a new instance it would be of a shutdown system. I'll try to take another snapshot tonight but will first shut down 3CX and give it a shot, thanks!

Still doesn't work. What is the command to restart services? I shut down the 3CX server, created a snapshot, deployed it to a new instance, and moved the Static IP to the new instance. It still won't connect. I can't find anything online about how to start or restart 3CX from the console; everything I found is really old referring to Windows.

Just restart the instance
