Is it possible to restore a 15.5 backup to a 16 server? If so, how? Also how do I upload the .zip to the server? (not sure if there is a painfully obvious way to go about this other than ftp into it or vnc)

The short answer is "yes".
I assume that you're installing a new instance and restoring from backup?

V15 has to be SP6 , then do a complete backup and restore during v16 install

Also how do you view the status of a restore process? It just kicks me back to the login screen and after waiting even 30min, it doesn't appear to actually restore anything.

during install PBX process ask you backup file to restore, then when finish your pbx is ready and available with same way it was in V15.5

save backuped file out of 3cx folder, i didn't ask you if it is a windows PBX or Debian?

Ah so I can only do a restore during the installation process? Not after everything is already installed? I'm using Debian.

if it's a debian you don't need to do this , normally you receive update directly in console and have just to apply.
Backup an reinstall is only for windows pbx.

your DEBIAN needs to be DB9 if you are always running DB8 it's not working

Are you always with valid key and active maintenance? what type of licence do you have? STD PRO ENT ?

I reinstalled and did the restore from backup at the config wizard. It appears to be working. I did go from a Pro license to a Enterprise license though. :)

However it doesn't appear to have moved my recordings :/

Well done :D
For recordings i'm not sure about right way to move them , wait right answer from 3CX Staff @JohnS_3CX

It looks like I was able to restore them. I had to click the button on the dashboard in bright red that said "Convert recordings" :) All is well now! :) Upgraded from 15.5 to 16 and moved servers at the same time.

Hi @ElementalWindX

Sounds like you got it all done, and yes the recordings should be converted when coming from a V15.5 PBX because now they are handled differently. This happens only once. Glad to hear it was resolved
